Poem 25 (last one)

10/24/09
Larkin
Toads

I like the way that Larkin used the toad as a symbol. This poem made me think that Larkin did not like when he got pushed over. He also did not like it when defenseless people were taken advantage of.

Poem 24

10/24/09
Rich
Miracle Ice cream

First of all the title of this poem just makes me want to read it. Also, it makes me as happy as I can be. It makes me go back to times when I was younger swimming in my friends pool and going to the ice cream man while he was driving down the street.

Poem 23

10/24/09
Plath
Morning Song

This poem makes me feel like I should be a morning person. Usually when I have to wake up for school or early in the morning on a weekend, I am never in a good mood. This poem makes me feel that I should appreciate each and every morning.

Poem 22

10/24/09
Wordsworth
Speak!

It is a very powerful poem about speaking your mind. It makes me feel that I should stand up for what I believe in. It also makes me thing that Wordsworth was a very passionate man in everything he did.

Poem 21

10/24/09
Walcott
Love After Love

This poem made me feel that even after love, and then heartbreak, there can still be love again. It is a very hopeful poem because he says that you can bounce back after something bad happens to you.

Poem 20

10/24/09
Herbert
Nature

When I saw the title I thought that Herbert would be a transcendentalist poet and write about nature in a good light, but I was wrong. He takes the beauty of nature and twists it to make it a dark thing. Not necessarily a bad thing, but a dark thing.

Poem 19

10/24/09
Jonson
The Hour-Glass

Just by reading the title of this poem, it seems like it would be a very interesting, very deep poem. After reading the actual poem I found that I was correct. He uses personification to describe the hour-glass and this part of the poem made me feel like I knew exactly what he was writing about.
